The easiest caramel pecan pie without corn syrup and homemade salted caramel!
granulated sugar water unsalted butter heavy cream salt
buttermilk pie crust
salted caramel sauce light brown sugar eggs butter vanilla bean paste chopped pecans sea salt flakes
For the caramel, heat sugar & water over medium heat. Remove once it turns into an amber color & stir in butter.
Once butter is combined, stir in heavy cream & then salt. Once its combined, remove and set it aside to cool to room temp.
Prepare the buttermilk pie crust, roll it out & press it into a shallow 9" pie dish. Trim edges & refrigerate.
Combine caramel sauce, brown sugar, eggs, butter & vanilla until smooth. Add pecans & toss until they're fully coated.
Pour filling over the chilled pie crust & bake at 350F for 35 minutes. Remove & cover the edges of the crust with foil, then bake for 15 more minutes.
Remove from the oven, allow it to cool to room temp & refrigerate for a couple of hours to fully set. Top with salted caramel sauce & a pinch of sea salt flakes.
