Ingredients

STEP 1:
Place cardamom pods, cloves, allspice, peppercorns & fennel seeds in a mortar & pestle & crush until cardamom opens & the rest look somewhat crushed.

STEP 2:
Toast spices, cinnamon sticks, ginger & nutmeg in a bottom heavy pot over low-medium heat. Add water & turn heat to high to bring the water to a boil.

STEP 3:
Remove from heat, add in star anise, vanilla bean, orange zest & brown sugar & cover the pot with a lid. Allow to steep for 30 minutes.

STEP 4:
Bring water back to a boil & then remove it from the heat again. Add black tea, cover with a lid & let it steep for another 10 minutes.

Strain the water into a jar & use equal parts concentrate and milk to make homemade chai latte.
